Everyone knows how much I love matcha. I get lots of messages asking how I make it. Honestly, it changes daily depending on if I am wanting something a bit more sweet I'll add a pinch of honey or coconut sugar. If I know I'm not going to eat for a few hours I will put some coconut oil or butter. I often times put adaptogens (herbs and certain mushrooms that help balance hormones and in like chaga (a mushroom powder) or rhodiola (boots the immune system and energy levels in addition to helps balance hormones).
I personally don't like the taste of coffee so I drink tea in the morning. I love the taste of matcha and love making lattes out of it. Maybe people who do like coffee often switch to matcha because it is high in caffeine (34mg in an average latte) similar to coffee but without the huge crash. Your body releases the caffeine slowly which gives you long-lasting energy. It also doesn't give you the jitters or the acidity like coffee does. Matcha is also high in antioxidants, WAY higher! Higher than goji berries, dark chocolate and blueberries. So you get a high dose of antioxidants and caffeine with long-lasting energy with no crash!
Below is my simple straightforward matcha recipe (your starter recipe if you will). You will also find some fun add ons so you can mix it up if you wish.
To make matcha you will need:
- Matcha (find my fav in my Amazon shop
- A matcha whisk, hand frother or blender (head over to my Amazon shop to take your pick)
- Hot Water
- To make a latte (almond milk or milk of choice)
Simple Starter Matcha
- 1/2 tsp matcha
- 8-10 oz of hot water
- 1/3 cup almond milk (I choose vanilla unsweetened)
- 1/4 tsp honey (optional)
For ANY of these recipes if you are making in a blender add everything in and blend on high for 30 seconds to a minute. I do find this is the fastest and easiest way to make it but not to worry if you don't have a blender, you can still have matcha!
If you are using a matcha whisk or frother put 1/2 of the hot water into a mug. add matcha and whisk until there are no matcha clumps. Then stir in other ingredients and enjoy!
Cinnamon Twist Matcha
- 1/2 tsp matcha
- 8-10 oz of hot water
- 1/3 cup almond milk (I choose vanilla unsweetened)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp honey (optional)
"Bullet Proof" Matcha
- 1/2 tsp matcha
- 8-10 oz of hot water
- 1/3 cup almond milk (I choose vanilla unsweetened)
- 1 tbs coconut oil
Mushroom Matcha
- 1/2 tsp matcha
- 8-10 oz of hot water
- 1/3 cup almond milk (I choose vanilla unsweetened)
- 1/4 tsp Sun Potions Chaga and Reishi
- 1/4 tsp honey (optional)
Adrenal Boosting Matcha
- 1/2 tsp matcha
- 8-10 oz of hot water
- 1/3 cup almond milk (I choose vanilla unsweetened)
- 1/4 tsp honey (optional)
- 1/4 cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp Sun Potions Ashwagandha
